It’s easy to forget that This Way North is a two-piece band. Drummer and vocalist Cat Leahy and guitarist and vocalist Leisha Jungalwalla create a full, expansive sound that translates effortlessly from studio to stage.
While on tour in 2016 and 2017, This Way North recorded their second EP in Toronto with Canadian producer Derek Downham (Eagles of Death Metal, Broken Social Scene, Holy F*ck). The six-song collection showcases their evolution from rootsy rock to a new realm of luscious, groove-laden alt-pop and synth-rock.
This Way North plays with more passion and energy than a 10-piece band, drumming up a contagious euphoria. Big, rhythmic, spacious and saturated with summer, their music invites you to turn up the volume and let loose.
With their reputation growing solidly from powerful live shows and national rotation on ABC and Double J (plus a host of plays and interviews across Triple J, Triple R, PBS and RTR), This Way North are being touted as one of the bands to see during the summer festival circuit.
